We live in an instant society. We have fast internet, instant messaging, and I can have amazon prime deliver just about anything to my house in an hour. As I scroll through Facebook I can see what my friends and family are doing in real time. I also see plenty of post and ads claiming 3 steps to ____. 3 steps to flatter abs in 30 days, 4 steps to manifesting the money I deserve, or I can swipe right to meet the man of my dreams 15 minutes away from my current location.
We want it now!
I have to admit, I have been guilty more than once of wasting an hour clicking on one of these claims and suddenly hoping with the right supplements and juice I really will be in a bikini by July.
What I know for sure is that the people I know with the best bodies, the most successful businesses, or a wonderful marriage, they have put in the work to get it and they did not give up. What they also know is that it all comes from God. It is by His strength, His plan, and in His timing.
All great things begin with one step. It is having a dream or a goal, believing it can happen, and courageously stepping out in faith.
“A Dream comes through much work.” Ecclesiastes 5:3
Achieving a goal will take work and you will encounter resistance; but it will also be worth it!
Richard and I dated for 4 years Gods way. When I tell people that the first thought is “I would never do that!” Trust me, if anyone had told me beforehand how long it would take, I would not have signed up for that either. I am glad I didn’t know! God had work to do in each of us and apparently He needed that much time to prepare us for what was to come.
73% of second and third marriages fail. If you want something different you have to be willing to do what the majority wont. You have to make a commitment that the 73% are not making. It can appear impossible at times by our own strength, but don’t give up, you are not alone.
What is your dream worth to you? The majority won’t make it, but that is not you! Put your Brave on! What area of your life are you believing for transformation in?
“Without vision the people cast off restraint.” Proverbs 29:18
Have a clear vision. Do you want to lose 10 lbs.? Become and entrepreneur? Start a nonprofit or meet the spouse of your dreams? Have Faith, Be Brave, and stay the course. When you are focused on our vision you can resist the temptation to quit. You will pass on the brownie, work late on your business plan, and value yourself enough to wait for the mate God has for you.
There actually is 3 steps to achieving your dream; Courage, Commitment, and Faith.
What is your dream? I would love to hear about it in the comments below and we can be praying together.
