The Right Combination: Promo

God is a God of order. What do you think when you hear that? Do you get excited or does it make you a little frustrated? I know for me it sounds like a lot of waiting that I don’t want to do. Bu it is true, Gods timing is perfect.

The last few years God has had us on quite a journey! okay, let’s be honest, it has been ten years. Who knew, when Richard and I went on our first date, the adventure that God had for us.

In this video you see the result of many years of sowing, sacrifice, joy, and a few tears. Through these years we grew as a blended family, I started my career as a freedom life coach, we began speaking, wrote a book, and launched The Brave Gathering event for women. What you mainly see is Gods goodness. God is a God of order, He is also a God of Grace, Forgiveness, Love, and His word.

My prayer is that you will be inspired and encouraged that with God, Nothing is impossible for you!

The Harvest is Here!

Harvest.jpg

Happy 2019! I am starting to believe what they say about the years going faster as you get older. 2018 has already come and gone. I wanted to make sure that I took a moment to reflect on all that happened before I rush right into the new year.

2018 was a big milestone for me, I turned 50. It’s not like I didn’t know it was coming, I just didn’t anticipate all of the different emotions and thoughts, among other things, that came along with this age. While I was turning 50, two of our four kids were getting married, one was getting engaged, and the other is about to graduate from high school and begin his career as a hairstylist. It’s the end of an era.

So what now? Here is what I have realized, that although the life I knew is changing, when something ends it means something new is beginning. I am looking forward to what God wants to do in our family.

Do you have a word for the year? Last year mine was growth. After a couple of years of working to grow my coaching practice and writing a book, I was excited as my business grew, we signed a publishing deal with Kregel Publishing, and we held The Brave Gathering event for women. Growth for sure! What I also realized as I looked back was that we grew the family by four! When God gives you a word for the year, it gives you focus, intention, hope, and expectancy for what He wants to do in and through you. A few years ago, as my husband and I took a risk to give up my income and start The Right Combination, my word for the year was courage.

This year as I was wondering what my word might be, I can’t even say I was praying I was just wondering to myself, I immediately heard the word Harvest. I didn’t even have to think about it! That is the kind of word we want to hear! The harvest is here. I quickly remembered a sermon that I heard from Pastor Steven Furtick, called Harvest Problems. He said we all seem to think that when the harvest comes that we get to sit back and enjoy it, but “the corns not going to pick itself”. The Harvest for a farmer is when the work begins.

As I look forward to 2019, I know that the fruit that our ministry produces is not for us. My prayer for this year is that the harvest we produce is seen in the impact we can make in the lives of others. Richard and I are excited for The Brave Gathering 2019, other speaking opportunities, one on one coaching, and in the fall the release of The Right Combination; Finding Love and Live after divorce.

I share what is happening in hopes that you will be inspired in your dreams. God is a God of order, it will take courage to step out in faith, it will take patience and perseverance to keep going when you can’t see anything happening, and it will take faith to believe that nothing is impossible with God. Dream big! God has amazing things for you!

One Big Happy Family

RMP_015.jpg

Love is in the air! Last night we had the second of our two September weddings. September 2nd my middle son Mitchell married Kami. Then yesterday, Richards daughter Dakota married Preston. There are so many things I could say about this! It has been a very special season for us! Here is what I want to talk about, the emotional roller coaster that comes with this much change all at once!

This morning as Richard and I had our coffee and reminisced about the wedding, he was so emotional! He was saying that he knew that he should be happy but what he felt was sad. He and Dakota have always been so close and they have an incredibly special bond. Dakota is Daddy’s girl and he loves it! Richard has taught her to be grounded in her faith and that the sky is the limit. She believed him on both fronts and she is going to soar for sure.

It is a funny thing though, as happy as Richard is for Dakota, when one thing begins in our lives, another thing has to come to an end. We actually have to mourn the loss of what was in order to fully embrace the new thing that God is doing in our lives.

I felt much the same when Mitchell got married. I have one son that is already out of the house, my youngest is a senior in high school, and now the middle one was getting married and moving out. All I could see was what I hadn’t gotten to do yet and now it was over. I am done raising them, but what if I missed something? It looked like my time with them was ending and it all felt too late. I was so sad! How could I be so sad when I love the girl he is marrying.

Then God changed my perspective. I felt as though I was losing my family as I know it. The truth is, that I was, and that is okay. God knows my love of big family dinners around the table. I love having everyone together, the loud conversation, and the laughter. Basically, God said to me, you’re going to need a bigger table! Yes! My family is in fact changing, it is growing. God showed me that what He is doing in my life and in my family is generational. It doesn’t stop because someone gets married or because Dawson will graduate from high school, this is only the beginning!

Here is the funny thing, this was a lesson God had already showed us. We are a big blended family already. Richard welcomed my boys, I welcomed Dakota, and now we get to continue to add amazing people into the family. It’s a beautiful thing. Some of us are family by chance and others we get to choose.

This is a lot like the family of Christ. When we choose to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are accepted into Christ family. It only makes sense that we would do the same. God is amazing!

Oh, by the way…my oldest just got engaged to Katie. We love her and her son Riley! Looks like we are going to need two more seats and the table.

1 Year Anniversary-Brave Conversations with Barbie

It was a little over a year ago I attended Freedom Training at Gateway Church. The last day of training one of the pastors said to me that he sensed that God has given me a gift of teaching and that He wants me to use it. The following week I received an email asking me to speak at an event in Dallas, followed by a message saying I had won an opportunity to attend Tiffany Hendras Rock the Camera workshop. Sometimes when God speaks things happen quickly. Amazing!

That was how Brave Conversations with Barbie began. Today is the one year anniversary! It has been an amazing year! I love hearing from those of you that have joined the conversation. The encouragement and hearing how God is speaking to you.

Today I am throwing it back on a Tuesday and sharing the premier episode. If you would like to watch more episodes you can watch our YouTube channel or scroll right here on the blog. Looking back, it is also the evolution of my hair! haha You can take a girl out of the beauty industry, but some things never change.

As always, I would love to hear from you about what is going on in your life. Leave a comment, send a message.

If you would like to do a FREE call click here.

I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks for an amazing year!

Stop the Comparison- Brave Conversations with Barbie

It is officially summer!
Of course here in Texas it has felt like summer for a while now. Is it just me, or does this time of year bring up an extra dose of insecurities and comparisons for you too? So much pressure to have the bathing suit bod ready. We can hide so much during boots and sweater season! Social media ups the ante. Everyone seems to be on a fabulous vacation, eating amazing picture worthy food, and at the very least their feet look great with the beach background.
I have caught myself going into the Instapit of comparison more than once.
On todays Brave Conversations we are going to address the subject head on. It is a process for me, especially when I go to hit record to talk about it. here I am planning to share what God is showing me about comparison, and I am questioning my clothes, my hair, my makeup...stop the madness! Let's tackle this subject together.
Watch todays video and share your thoughts, your struggles, and your tips of overcoming comparison in your own life. It is not a conversation without you!

Jubilee

Happy May!

May has always been one of my favorite months. It is when the weather finally turns warm, we get a little vit D, and the flowers are blooming. In my family, it also means birthdays and lots of them. Oh, and it’s MY birthday month!

This year is a big one, I will be 50 May 6th. I did not know this would affect me the way that it has. I have been saying, “it’s going to happen anyway, I might as well celebrate it.” But the closer it gets the more thoughts come to my mind; “Am I where I wanted to be, am I the size I wanted to be, or as happy as I would like to be?”

A few years ago, I decided to change careers and become a Life Coach. This was something I had wanted to do for about 3 years. I was once asked, “why would you want to change careers at this stage of your life?” My response was, ‘I will be 50 in 3 years, and by then I could have a successful coaching practice.” Look what The Lord has done! I am living the life that I feel like God created me for, and doing it with the man of my dreams.

I am amazed what God has done with the Right Combination! I have coached women from around the country, created Freedom Intensives for individuals and groups, signed a book deal with Kregel publishing, started my YouTube Channel (Brave Conversations with Barbie), and held the fist “The Brave Gathering”. God is so good!

The other day someone told me that 50 means Jubilee. Biblically this is a year of restoration. Yes! God is in the business of restoring lives. If you had asked me years ago if I could ever imagine that God would restore the things in my life to where I am today, I am not sure I could have seen it. I thought it was too late for me. But God…

My prayer is always that you will be inspired that it is not too late for you either! God has an amazing plan for you! What are you dreaming for? I want to encourage you to have the courage to step into it.

"Be strong and courageous, and do the work"

1 chronicles 28:20

It will take stepping out and doing the work, but it is so worth it! You got this! Put your Brave on!

What's Your Dream?

272A9388.JPG

Six years ago, I was sitting in my office, that I shared with my friend Sherry. We were working, and she was likely singing whatever show tune was playing in her headphones. I started sharing with her my “random” thoughts about the future. I proclaimed that one day she and I would be speaking together at our own event. “You know, we will be like the Women of faith conference.” After a few moments of dreaming out loud, I went back to working, not quite believing that it was really possible. But hey, a girl can dream!

Fast forward to this year, to next week…Saturday April 21st is The Brave Gathering! I am actually doing it! I am hosting an event and Sherry and I are speaking. God is amazing! It has been quite a journey I can assure you, and one only God could orchestrate.

Friend, what's your dream? You know, the one that you might not even say out loud because someone might think you are crazy. Yep, that’s the one! God likes to plant Big Dreams in your heart! The kind that if He doesn’t show up you will look crazy. But that’s what God does, He is in the business of doing the “impossible.”

I had this dream to gather like minded women together in one place. To be encouraged, inspired, and to experience freedom. Freedom to be who you were made to be. To connect with other women that are being Brave enough to believe that it’s not too late, that they are qualified, and that they do matter.

My passion is to see women living their most authentic and purposeful life. What better way to do that than with a bunch of women that can encourage and support you on your journey.

It’s all happening!

Will you be there? What is stopping you?

I want to encourage you that this gathering is for you, that it is happening because of you. So put your Brave on!

I cannot wait to see you there!

Enjoy The Process (and an announcement!) -Brave Conversations with Barbie

I would love to hear how God is working in your life.

I'm Doing This - Brave Conversations with Barbie

I'm going in! Richard and I are so excited to announce that we have signed a

book contract with Kregel publishing! We are so grateful for all the love and

support we have received. This can be a long process, so I want to take you on

the journey with us. As I am writing I am revisiting my journals. I have been

going back through so that I can recollect not only what happened but how I

was feeling in the moment. I am going to share some of this with you. I hope

that you will join me as I put my Brave on!

Friends, I hope you will join me on this journey! If I can be vulnerable, I know you

can too! Let’s Put our Brave on together. You were made for more!

Putting My Brave On

my journals.jpg

Don’t judge a book by its cover. In the picture above, these books, are my journals. I began journaling in 1996. I used to watch Oprah and she would talk about how awesome it is to journal, so I thought, if it’s good for O, it’s good for me.

I began writing as a prayer journal; Dear God… I would share the things that were going on in my life and write my prayers to God. I have documented my journey from hearing about purpose and wondering if I had one, to the struggles in my marriage and the fear I had while walking out the door with one box, my kids, and our clothes.

I also wrote stories of celebration; like when I was able to buy a house for my boys and me, and about meeting the man of my dreams on an online dating site. Mainly, I am pouring my emotions out to God. The good and the bad.

I remember one-time when I heard Oprah say that when she dies that her best friend Gail has orders to burn her journals.  Haha I get that, and I am not even famous! I would never want anyone to read mine. I seem so pathetic talking about guys. Does he like me, does he not, blah blah blah ugh!

Well…things have changed. This year Richard and I have signed a publishing deal with Kregel Publishing. We will actually have a book in Barnes and Noble in 2019! We are beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to share our story of dating after divorce. God wrote such an incredible story and we are blessed to share it. Here’s the thing, I am using my journals to help us recollect the moments as well as publishing excerpts from them. Brene Brown might be proud of my vulnerability. Myself, I am a little nervous. I don’t know about you, but that little voice in my head that says, “what will people think”, can get a little loud.

So…just to kick it up a notch, I am not going to wait for the book, I am going to include you on this writing journey. Starting next week, I will be doing Facebook Live. I am going to be sharing some stories and excerpts from my journals and my life. My prayer is that, through these stories, someone will be inspired to do something different. When we want something different, we have to do something different. We can break those old patterns and have the abundant life that God promises us.

I believe that we all have a desire to be seen, to be known, and to be loved. That takes vulnerability.

Friends, I hope you will join me on this journey! If I can be vulnerable, I know you can too! Let’s Put our Brave on together. You were made for more!

I will be sharing videos here as well as The Right Combination Facebook page. Let’s have a Brave conversation. Please leave me comments and let me know if you will be watching!

If you would like to visit one on one, I would love to do a free call with you. I love to hear what its going on in your life.

Do Not Mistake Sex for Love - Brave Conversations with Barbie

Do not mistake sex for love, and don't think you have to have sex to receive love. I shared this on my social media last week, and it seemed to strike a chord with people. I invited Richard to join the conversation and give us a male perspective. Richard shares with us how he went from dating women for the sex to his full surrender to God and obedience in dating Gods way.

Oh My Kids Need To Hear That - Brave Conversations With Barbie

Whenever I share mine and Richards story of dating and purity, the response it often, Oh my kids need to hear that. If you are divorced or single, this is also for you. Scripture is clear, that God created sex to be enjoyed within the marriage bed, period. He did not say until a certain age, unless you have been married before, or as long as it's your first time. It is never too late to do things Gods way and receive Gods best for your life. This time of year can be a fun time with family and friends, but it can also be a lonely time for many. I want to encourage you to stay focused on God and all that He has for you.

When we find ourselves suddenly single again, getting back "out there" can be challenging. What are the "rules" now? What about online dating? Love vs Hate - whose to blame

Like you, we woke up this morning to the tragic story of what happened last night In Las Vegas, Nevada. After being glued to the news and my twitter feed, I asked Richard to join the conversation today. We are all trying to make sense of the senseless and we all want something or someone to blame. Food Freedom - Brave Conversations With Barbie

"It's just happy married weight", "You're just getting older." after gaining 22 pounds in a couple of years, I wanted to know why. After 2 doctors told me there was nothing wrong with me, a client of mine changed my life telling me about Hashimotos, an auto-immune hypothyroid disease. This weeks conversation is about my personal journey to freedom. I learned how to eliminate my brain fog, depression, and finally lose the weight. I am not an expert and I am not selling a product, I just pray that I might be able to inspire someone else with my journey.
